Cabaret Gone Wild!

By Cris Glaser

Published on March 22, 2006

The producers of Cabaret Sampler are slapping a disclaimer on the show when it opens a four-weekend run tonight: Don't bring the kids — unless you want them to hear six performers singing about lousy love lives and anonymous gay sex. There's Eileen Burns, "terminally unlucky in love," who'll croon a "cabaret personals ad" about online matchmaking services and blind dates. And Nickolas Vannello will perform "Brokeback Cabaret," which features songs by gay punk rockers Super-8 Cum Shot, including such titles as "Check Your Nuts" and "There's a Porn Star Shining Down on Me." "Nick's whole set reflects his warped sense of humor," says Lora Workman, the show's producer and choreographer. "As he puts it, it's a manly set of songs for guys who want to experience forbidden love without the nasty aftertaste." Cabaret Sampler runs through April 15 at Kennedy's 1519 Euclid Avenue. Showtimes are 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $20; call 800-766-6048. — By Cris Glaser Cabaret Gone Wild!
