Pancakes on St. Paddy's Day

The Sandusky Lions Club insists it hasn’t mixed up the holidays. Its annual Pancake Breakfast and Easter Egg Hunt takes place today... on St. Patrick’s Day. The all-you-can-eat blowout always coincides with the Lions’ district convention, which is held in mid-March every year. While visitors nosh on pancakes, sausage, and juice, a rep from the Sandusky Children’s Museum will show off his toy collection. Then at 11 a.m., children head outdoors for the egg hunt.

Organizers are expecting as many as 800 kids to scour Sandusky High School’s lawn for colorful hard-boiled eggs, which they get to bring home. Little ones (and their parents) can even sport “Kiss Me, I’m Irish” buttons. Says Kelly Pressler, an administrative assistant at Sandusky City Hall: “You get eggs in the morning and still have your green beer in the evening.”
