Days of the New

In 1997, Travis Meeks and his band Days of the New became grunge superstars, filling a modern rock void after Alice in Chains failed to release a new record. Scoring several hits, Days of the New opened for Metallica on one of the summer's hottest tours. After the tour, Meeks did a strange thing: The rising but mercurial star fired his band and hired replacements.

Subsequent albums, laid down by Meeks and a series of bandmates, failed to match the success of the band's debut, while Meeks hooked himself on crystal meth.

After a successful stint in rehab, Meeks rediscovered his music. Days of the New is now out of storage and back on the road. Those expecting the hits will get them, but with a catch. "I am continuing to develop the old music to fit where I feel I am today," explains Meeks, who will also spotlight tracks from Days of the New's upcoming fourth disc.
