Alice By Heart

Beck Center students ranging from ages 12 to 18 will bring this musical by singer-songwriter Duncan Sheik to life. The musical follows two teens who live in an underground Tube station during the London Blitz. Tonight’s performance is at 7:30, and the play runs through May 10.

An Evening with David Byrne

The former Talking Heads frontman brings his latest solo tour to the State Theatre. Last year, Byrne hooked up with Grammy-winning producer Kid Harpoon (Harry Styles, Miley Cyrus) and members of New York-based chamber ensemble Ghost Train Orchestra for his latest album, Who Is the Sky?, another terrific collection of quirky art rock tunes. The show begins at 8 p.m.

Ms. Holmes & Ms. Watson – Apt. 2B

Billed as a “madcap mystery romp,” this play about Arthur Conan Doyle’s detective duo comes to the Hanna Theatre for an extended run that continues through May 10. Tonight’s performance takes place at 7:30 p.m.

The Outsiders

Adapted from the best-selling novel and blockbuster film by the same name, this musical centers on a rivalry between two families living in Tulsa in the 1960s. Tonight’s performance takes place at 6:30 at Connor Palace, where performances continue through May 17.

Wagner’s Götterdämmerung

Clarinetist Jörg Widmann joins the Cleveland Orchestra as it plays excerpts from Wagner’s four-part Ring cycle. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at Mandel Concert Hall, where performances also take place tomorrow and Saturday.

Beck Center Student Visual Arts Exhibition

This annual exhibition serves as the culminating showcase for Beck Center’s student artists and highlights over 100 works of art created by students of all ages and skill levels. An artist reception takes place from 6 to 7:30 tonight.

Buckethead

The guitarist with remarkable shredding abilities performs at 6:30 p.m. at House of Blues. Known for performing with a KFC bucket atop his head, the eccentric musician has a career that stretches back decades, and guitar magazines regularly hail him as one of the best players in the world.

GlamGore

Produced, marketed, and hosted by locally based Anhedonia Delight, this monthly show at the Grog Shop in Cleveland Heights feature both “beauty queens” and “drag monsters.” Tonight’s performance begins at 9:30.

Guardians vs. Minnesota Twins

The Minnesota Twins were a sub .500 team last year and will probably lose more games than they win again this year. They come to town for a three-game series at Progressive Field that commences with tonight’s game. First pitch is at 7:15 p.m.

Martin Puryear: Reflections in Movement, Music, and Words

This event at Cleveland Museum of Art will feature music, art and poetry that corresponds to the works on display in the CMA exhibit Martin Puryear: Nexus. Pianist/composer Donal Fox, balafon master Famoro Dioubaté, dancers and musicians from Djapo Cultural Arts Institute, Kora virtuoso Mady Kouyaye, and Oberlin College Taiko are all set to perform. The event begins at 7:30 p.m.

Pete Yorn

The singer-songwriter brings his tour marking the 25th anniversary of his album musicforthemorningafter to the Beachland Ballroom. That album yielded hit singles “Life on a Chain” and “Strange Condition,” catchy power-pop tunes with enough of an indie edge to them. The show begins at 8 p.m.

Zach Bryan — With Heaven On Tour

The country music superstar comes to Huntington Bank Field as part of a tour supporting his latest effort, With Heaven on Top. The 25-song release is an ambitious effort punctuated by Springsteen-like ballads (“Runny Eggs”) and politically charged critiques of the state of the nation (“Bad News”). The concert begins at 7 p.m.

Cavs vs. Detroit Pistons

After difficult seven-game series in the opening round of the NBA playoffs, the Cavs and Detroit Pistons both advanced to the next round for an anticipated matchup against each other. The two teams are division rivals and have played each other tough all season. After two games in the Motor City, the series returns to Cleveland today for Game 3. Tipoff is at 3 p.m.

Ingenuity Bal: Daydreamery

Ingenuity’s annual signature Bal fundraiser takes place at 7 p.m. today at IngenuityLabs. There will be interactive art installations, live performances, music, dancing and “unexpected moments of wonder.”

Mac Demarco

Touring in support of last year’s Guitar, the indie singer-songwriter performs at 7 p.m. at the Agora. Tender folk-pop tunes such as “Shining” and “Sweeter” possess a Beck-like quality.

Mother’s Day Weekend at the Greater Cleveland Aquarium

The Greater Cleveland Aquarium will celebrate Mother’s Day with parenting‑themed activities and half off adult admission for moms, stepmoms, foster moms and grandmas with the purchase of another adult or child ticket. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and tomorrow.
